HubSpot keeps your contacts, your memberarea keeps your members. The app puts the two on speaking terms: new leads and members arrive in HubSpot as contacts, and a HubSpot workflow can grant course access, add someone to a group or send a checkout link without anyone leaving HubSpot.
There are two ways in. Both end in the same place, so pick whichever you happen to be looking at.
From your memberarea
This is the usual way.
- Open Settings, then Integrations, and press Add Integration.
- Pick HubSpot from the list. It sits at the top under Popular.
- HubSpot asks which of your accounts you want to connect and shows what the app may do. Confirm it.
- You land back in your memberarea with the connection in place.
From an installation link
If you were given a link to install the app, it starts on HubSpot's side and ends on a MemberArea page.
- Open the link and confirm the permissions in HubSpot.
- You land on a MemberArea page that asks which workspace this HubSpot account belongs to.
- Not signed in? Sign in or create an account first. You come straight back to the same page afterwards.
- Pick the workspace and press Connect HubSpot.
The link from HubSpot stays open for 15 minutes. If you take longer, open the installation link again. Nothing is lost.
The page that follows names three things worth doing next and links straight into them. You can close it and come back later through Settings, then Integrations.
One account, one workspace
A workspace is one memberarea, with its own name and its own domain. A HubSpot account belongs to exactly one of them. That keeps contacts from being written twice from two different places.
- If the account already belongs to another workspace of yours, the page offers to move it and asks you to confirm, because moving it removes the app from the old workspace.
- If it belongs to a workspace you cannot see, the page says so instead of guessing. Disconnect it there first.
- Connecting the same account again is a refresh, not a duplicate. The page says "Connected" and the button reads "Update connection".
What the permissions are for
| Permission | What it does |
|---|---|
| Contacts, read and write | Creates and updates the contacts your leads and members become |
| Lists, read and write | Loads your static lists so you can pick one, and puts contacts on it |
| Automation | Adds the MemberArea steps to your HubSpot workflows |
Automation is optional. If the HubSpot account does not grant it, everything else still works, only the MemberArea steps stay hidden in the workflow editor. The connection panel in Settings, Integrations tells you when that is the case.
Checking the connection
Open Settings, then Integrations, and expand HubSpot. The panel names the connected account, lists every permission it was given and, if something is missing, says which. Check again asks HubSpot for a fresh answer.
Disconnecting
In Settings, then Integrations, disconnect HubSpot. Three things happen in order: the app is removed from your HubSpot account, the app's access is withdrawn, and the connection is deleted here.
Contacts that already reached HubSpot stay there. Disconnecting stops the sync, it does not clean up after it.
