The audit log records sensitive actions in your platform: changes to members, your team and roles, your plan, integrations and important settings. When something changed and nobody remembers why, this is where you find out who did it and when.
What the log records
Each line is one event. The log records, among others:
- Members: Member created, Member updated, Member email changed, Member password reset, Member role changed, Member banned, Member unbanned and Member erased.
- Logging in as a member: Impersonation started and Impersonation stopped.
- Access: Hub access changed when a hub's access rules change.
- Team and roles: Team member invited, Team member updated, Team member removed, Role created, Role updated and Role deleted.
- Integrations: Integration connected and Integration disconnected.
- Your plan: Plan changed, Subscription cancelled and Subscription resumed.
- Settings: Settings updated, Features updated, Design updated, Loading screen updated and Data processing agreement accepted.
Everyday work such as editing a lesson or publishing a post is not part of the audit log.
Reading the table
The table shows the newest events first, 20 per page, with these columns:
- Event: what happened, with a colored icon. Red marks removals and bans, amber marks changes to access, passwords and billing.
- Target: the member, role or item the event concerns.
- Actor: the person who did it. System stands for changes made automatically.
- IP: the IP address the action came from.
- When: date and time.
Click a column heading to sort by it.
Finding an event
All actions above the table filters the log to one kind of event. The list only offers events that already happened on your platform. The search field finds entries by actor, target, event or IP address.
Looking at the details
The menu at the end of a row opens Details. Besides Actor, Target and IP address, it lists further facts where the event has them, for example the old and the new address of Member email changed.
When you let a member's data be erased, the log keeps the entry Member erased with the time and the person who did it. You can show this as proof that you handled a deletion request.
Who can see the audit log
The audit log is part of Settings and needs Update Platform Settings. Owner and Admin have it. Nobody can edit or delete entries.
