Your Shopify shop keeps doing what it already does: showing products, taking payments, sending the receipt. The connection adds one thing on top. When an order is paid, your memberarea unlocks whatever that product is supposed to unlock, and when the order is refunded, it takes the access back.
Before you start
You need the address of your shop, the one ending in .myshopify.com. You find
it in your Shopify admin under Settings, then Domains, listed as the
Shopify-managed domain. It looks like your-name.myshopify.com. Your pretty
customer-facing domain is not the one we need.
Your memberarea role needs two permissions: manage integrations and manage catalog. The first one connects the shop. The second one is what the access picker in the mapping wizard runs on, so with only the first you can connect but you cannot finish a mapping.
One shop connects to one platform. If the shop is already connected to a different platform, the connection is refused instead of quietly moving your orders somewhere else. The message is clear: "This shop is already connected to another workspace."
Connect
- Open Settings, then Integrations.
- Find Shopify and open it. A dialog asks for the Shop address.
- Enter the address ending in
.myshopify.com. The Connect button stays greyed out until that field is filled. - Press Connect. Shopify asks you to approve the access. Approve it.
You land back on your integrations list. Nothing is mapped yet, so a purchase still unlocks nothing. To map your first product, open the row menu next to Shopify and choose Map a product.
If you installed the app from the Shopify App Store
That install runs the other way round: the app sits in your Shopify admin before your memberarea knows about it. Open Settings, then Integrations, press Add Integration and choose Shopify. On that page, press Create a connection code and enter the code in the app inside your Shopify admin. The code is valid for fifteen minutes and works once.
What we ask Shopify for
We ask for the least we need: read your orders, read and write your customers, read and write your products. We do not ask for anything about payouts, staff accounts, or your Shopify billing. We use everything we read to decide who gets access to what.
Check that it worked
Open Settings, then Integrations, press Add Integration and choose
Shopify. Choosing it opens the Shopify page at
/admin/settings/integrations/shopify instead of starting a second connection.
The card at the top names your shop and says Connected.
If it says Disconnected, a yellow banner underneath names the reason and offers Reconnect shop. The most common reason is that the app was removed in Shopify, which also revokes our access. The button takes you back to the integrations list, where you connect the shop again exactly the way you did the first time. Your product mappings survive a disconnect, so you do not have to set them up again.
While a shop is disconnected, new orders no longer unlock anything. Members who already have access keep it. Nothing is deleted, but the gap in new orders is real, so reconnect as soon as you notice.
