Pushing memberarea products into Shopify

Create the Shopify product from the one you already have here, and keep the two in step.

In this article

Mapping works in one direction: a product that already exists in Shopify points at something here. The Sync tab does the opposite. It takes a product you already built here and creates it in Shopify, mapped and ready to sell, without retyping the name and the price.

Push a product

Open your Shopify page at /admin/settings/integrations/shopify, then Sync. The list shows your products with their price. It holds up to two hundred products and has no search box, so a very large catalogue will not fit in it. A product whose visibility here is Hidden never appears in the list.

  1. Tick the products you want in the shop.
  2. Press Push selected. The button counts what you ticked.
  3. Each row reports back. A successful row says Pushed. Every other row shows its reason in plain words, including "Shopify is busy right now", which means the run stopped early and the rest can go in a moment.

Twenty products go in one run. Ticking more than twenty does not warn you, the run takes the first twenty. Push the rest in a second run.

What lands in Shopify

The product is created as a digital product: no shipping, no inventory tracking. It arrives with your name, your description, your first image and your one-time price.

Its status follows the status it has here: a product set to Live in your memberarea arrives as active, one set to Draft arrives as draft. Whether an active product is already visible to shoppers depends on the sales channels it is published to in Shopify, and the push does not touch those. Open the product in your Shopify admin and check it before you send anyone to it.

The mapping is created at the same time, so the product sells and unlocks without a second step.

What cannot be pushed

A row that cannot be pushed cannot be ticked, and the reason stands under its name.

Row says Why
This product has no active price yet Add a price first.
Subscription prices are not created in Shopify yet Recurring billing lives in Shopify's own subscription apps, which we do not manage. Sell recurring plans through your memberarea checkout.
Only one-time prices can be created in Shopify Anything else, for example a pay-what-you-want or an instalment price, has no equivalent we can create.

Keeping the two in step

A product that is already in the shop shows In the shop. That does not block anything: you can tick it and push it again.

Editing the product here changes nothing in Shopify on its own. Nothing is sent until you tick the row and press Push selected again. A second push updates the same Shopify product, it never creates a duplicate.

If someone edits the product in Shopify, the badge in this list turns yellow, and the mapping on the Mappings tab reads Changed in the shop. That is a statement, not an error: your two systems now say different things. We never silently overwrite an edit made in the shop. Push again if the version here should win, or leave it if the shop version is the one you want.

Important

Deleting a product here does not delete it in Shopify. It is set to draft instead, so it disappears from your shop but its order history stays intact. Deleting products that have already been bought would take the receipts with them.
