Each of these four Zaps solves a job that comes up in almost every memberarea. Build them as they are or use them as a starting point. Zapier lists the fields of a MemberArea trigger by group, so the email address of a new member is found among the member's fields.
New members into your newsletter
Trigger: MemberArea, New Member. Action: your newsletter tool, for example Mailchimp, Brevo or Kit, and its step that adds or updates a subscriber.
Map the member's email address to the subscriber's email address, and the member's first and last name to the name fields.
Test: the trigger test pulls your latest real members, so pick one whose address you own before you test the action, because the test really adds the subscriber.
Watch out: New Member starts for every new member, including everyone a member import adds and people who joined through checkout. It does not say whether someone agreed to receive your newsletter. If your rules need that consent, add the subscriber with your tool's double opt-in, or put a Zapier filter in front that only lets through members with a tag you set on consent.
New tickets into Slack
Trigger: MemberArea, New Ticket. Action: Slack, and its step that sends a message to a channel.
Write the message and drop in the ticket's number, title and priority, so your team sees at a glance what came in and how urgent it is.
Test: the trigger test pulls your latest real tickets. If there are none yet, press New ticket in your inbox to create one, then test again.
Watch out: the trigger carries the ticket's number, title, status and priority, not the person who raised it. Open the ticket in your inbox to see who it is about.
A sheet row or a form entry creates a member
Trigger: Google Sheets, New Spreadsheet Row, or the new entry step of your form tool. Action: MemberArea, Create Member.
Map the columns or answers to First Name, Last Name and Email. All three are required. Language is optional and takes a code such as en or de.
Test: the action test creates a real member. Use a row or an entry with an address of your own, and remove the member afterwards if you do not need it.
Watch out: an address that already belongs to a member of the workspace ends that run with "Member with this email already exists in the business." The other rows carry on. To give existing members something instead, build a second Zap with Find Member by Email and an action on the member it finds. On a plan whose member limit is reached, the step stops until you upgrade.
Course graduates into your CRM
Trigger: MemberArea, Course Completed. Action: your CRM, for example HubSpot or ActiveCampaign, and its step that creates or updates a contact.
Map the member's email address to the contact's email, the member's first and last name to the name, and the course name to a field or a tag, so the CRM knows which course was finished.
Test: the trigger test shows an example record, not one of your members. To see real data, turn the Zap on and complete a short test course with your own account.
Watch out: the Zap starts once per finished course, so a member who finishes three courses reaches the CRM three times. Pick the CRM step that updates an existing contact rather than one that always creates a new one.
