Zapier templates

The ready-made MemberArea Zaps: what each one does, what to set up first, and what to check before you turn it on.

In this article

A template is a Zap with the trigger and the action already chosen, and often with the fields mapped as well. You connect the two accounts, check the fields and turn it on. These are the MemberArea templates published so far.

Where to find them

  • Inside your memberarea: open Settings, then Integrations, press Create Zaps and look in the box Your workflows.
  • On zapier.com: open the MemberArea page in the app directory at zapier.com/apps/memberarea/integrations.

Both show the same templates, and a Zap made from one lands in your Zapier account either way.

The templates

Template MemberArea step Other app Set up first

All of them need the Professional plan, like every Zap that uses MemberArea.

What to check before you turn one on

The two Google Sheets templates and the Typeform one come without mapping. The columns of your sheet and the questions of your form decide which value goes where, so Zapier asks you to pick them once both accounts are connected.

New Member starts for every new member. That includes everyone a member import adds, whatever way they joined; rows for people who are already members do not start it. A welcome email from the Gmail template therefore also reaches people you import. Turn the Zap off during a large import if that is not what you want.

The order, subscription and commission templates cannot test their trigger. In the current version of the app the test ends with "Missing scope", and Zapier wants a successful trigger test before it turns a Zap on. These three templates can only be finished once a later version of the app asks for this permission.

Amounts arrive in the smallest unit of the currency. The Slack message for a paid order of 49.00 euros says 4900 unless you add a Formatter step in Zapier that divides by 100.

The cancellation message names the plan, the amount and the currency, not the member. The trigger only carries the member ID. To post the name, put Get Member by ID between the two steps and map its first and last name into the message.

A community post has no title and no link. The Slack message shows the text of the post and its author. Edit the message to suit your channel.

Typeform can only create someone who is not a member yet. A second entry with an address that already belongs to a member stops that run with "Member with this email already exists in the business." The Zap carries on with the next entry.

Changing a template

A Zap made from a template is an ordinary Zap. Rename it, add a filter, add more steps or swap the action; the template itself stays unchanged for the next person. The article on building your first Zap walks through each step.
