General holds the details that identify your platform: its name, how a shared link looks, the timezone for every date and time, and the switches for search engines and maintenance. Most of it is set once and then shows up in many places.
Changes here are not saved as you type. Use Save in the bar at the bottom once you are done.
Your platform name
Platform Name is required. It is shown in various places, including the page title in the browser tab and the site name when someone shares a link to your platform.
The field accepts up to 255 characters, but the counter recommends 60. Longer titles get cut off in search results.
How a shared link looks
When someone posts a link to your platform in a chat or on social media, the preview card shows an image, your name and a short text. Link Preview on the right shows that card as it will look.

- Link Description is the short text under the name. It also becomes the page description that search engines read, so write it for people who do not know you yet. Up to 160 characters are recommended, because search engines like Google truncate longer descriptions. 255 are allowed.
- Background opens Change background. Choose Color for a plain background or Image for a picture in the 1200 x 630 format.
- Logo opens Change logo for the logo on the card. Remove takes it off again.
When you save and the background or logo has changed, the preview image is generated anew. Your platform then uses it whenever a link is shared.
Languages
Default Language and Supported Languages sit in the same block. What they change for members is covered in its own article.
Search engines
Search engines decides whether Google and other search engines may list your login and registration pages. It is Active from the start. Switch it to Inactive and these pages tell search engines not to index them or follow their links.
Maintenance mode
Maintenance mode locks the member area while you rebuild something. Switching it on opens Enable maintenance mode, which spells out what happens:
- Members are locked out and see a maintenance screen instead of the member area.
- Admins and team members with admin access keep full access.
- The switch takes effect once you save your changes.

Maintenance mode stays on until you switch it off and save again. Members stay locked out until then, so turn it off as soon as you are done.
Timezone and time format
Date & Time Settings controls how dates and times are shown across the platform. Timezone is the default timezone for every date and time; it was set when your platform was created and can be changed here at any time. Time Format switches between 12 Hours (AM/PM) and 24 Hours. Like the timezone, it was preset when the platform was created.
What you will not find here
Some business details live in other places, because they belong to a specific job:
- Your logo and favicon for the platform itself are set under Design.
- There is no platform currency. Each price carries its own currency, which you pick when you create the price.
- The Reply-to address of your system emails is set under Notifications. A From name of your own is available there when you send through your own mail server or your own sending domain.
- Your company name and address for the invoices you receive for your plan sit in Billing address under Billing. They are shown on those invoices and used to calculate applicable tax. Only the Owner can change them.
Deleting the platform
At the bottom of General, Delete Platform is shown only to the person who created the platform. Show details lists what goes with it: all members and their access, courses and lessons, hubs and dashboards, community, forums and posts, events and registrations, and products, orders and invoices.
Deleting the platform also cancels your memberarea subscription right away. If the cancellation fails, the platform is not deleted and a message explains why.
Deleting the platform cannot be undone.
