A product can carry more than one price. Offer a monthly and a yearly plan side by side, a payment plan next to the full amount, or variants such as sizes or colors, each with its own prices.
If Payments is off in your workspace, switch it on under Settings > Features first. Adding and changing prices, variants and attributes takes the permission Manage Catalog (Products, Prices, Coupons).
Where do I manage prices?
Open a product and go to Prices. Each row is one price. Click Add Price to add another, or click a row to edit it.
Two badges on each row act as switches. Primary marks the price used by default. Only one price can be primary, so marking a new one clears the old one. Active and Inactive decide whether the price can still be bought. Switching a price to Inactive keeps it but stops new purchases.

Deleting a price from this list asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.
Which pricing models are there?
Every price has a Pricing model:
- One-time payment: a single charge.
- Recurring: a subscription. The Billing interval offers daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, every 3 months, every 6 months or Custom, where you set Every and a Period of days, weeks, months or years.
- Payment plan: a Total amount split into a Number of payments, from 2 to 120, at the interval you choose. If the total does not divide evenly, the first payment carries the rest.
- Free / Pay what you want: either free, or the buyer enters an amount of at least your Minimum amount. A Suggested amount is pre-filled at checkout and cannot be lower than the minimum.
Recurring prices and payment plans can add an optional Upfront payment and Trial days, where 0 means no trial. With a trial, a switch decides whether a card is required to start it. How trials and payment plans run after the purchase is explained in Trials and installment plans.
Currency and tax
Each price has its own currency, picked next to the amount. New prices start in
EUR. Tax included in price says whether the amount already contains tax.
An optional Tax code classifies the kind of product for tax purposes.
Use a Stripe tax code, which starts with txcd_; any other value is ignored.
With Stripe Tax, the tax code of the price, or else the one of the product,
decides the tax rate in the checkout preview and in the charge, an order bump
included. Without one, the default tax code of your Stripe account applies.
The optional Internal name is only for you. Buyers see the pricing model as the title of a plan, and for a variant price the name of the variant.
How does the buyer choose?
The checkout link of a product opens with the primary price selected. When the product has more than one active price, the buyer picks one from a list of plans. Inactive prices are never offered.
When there is more than one, the product page lists every active price under "Choose a plan" and sends the buyer to the checkout with that price. A link from the checkout link builder fixes one Price, and the buyer cannot switch to another.
Variants and attributes
Variants fit products that come in versions, such as sizes, colors or editions. Switch on Product variants on the Prices tab. The section then turns into Variants and shows two boxes.
Attributes holds the properties your variants differ in. Click Add Attribute and fill in Code, Name and Values (comma separated), for example a Size attribute with S, M and L. The code must be unique, and duplicate values are merged. Attributes belong to your whole workspace, so you can reuse them on every product.
Variants holds the versions themselves. Click Add Variant to set an optional name and SKU, the attribute values, Active and, for stock, Track inventory, Allow backorder and Stock. Weight and dimensions are optional.

A variant gets its prices once it is saved. Open it again and use Add Price under Variant Prices. The fields are the same as for any other price, but deleting a variant price asks for no confirmation. Deleting a variant deletes its prices too and archives them in Stripe.
Switching on Product variants hides the base prices from the tab, but they stay active, and the wizard always creates one. As long as an active base price exists, the checkout link and the product page offer it next to the variant prices. To sell variants only, switch them off, set the base price to Inactive and switch them on again. Each variant price is shown with the name of its variant, or with its attribute values when the variant has no name. A sold-out variant is marked on its own price.
Showing a base price
Goods sold by weight, volume, length or area often need a price per unit next to the price. Physical products have a Base price box on the Prices tab for that. Switch on Show base price, enter the Content of one unit, pick the Unit and choose Price per, for example 250 g priced per 1 kg. The line below the fields shows the result as it will appear.
A variant with a different size gets its own content in the variant, under Content with the unit in brackets. Leave it empty to use the content of the product.
The product page and the checkout show the regular price without the base price.
Only one subscription per buyer
Some plans exclude each other, such as Basic and Pro of the same membership. Put them into one group: on the Billing tab of each product, choose a Subscription group or create one with New group. Give it a Name and decide under On conflict what happens when a buyer who already has a subscription in the group buys another plan of it:
- Auto-switch (recommended): the existing subscription is cancelled at the end of its period. The buyer keeps its access until then.
- Block: the new purchase is refused, and the buyer has to cancel the existing subscription first.
Trialing, active, past due and paused subscriptions count. The check needs to know the buyer, so Block applies to buyers who are signed in at checkout. Choose None (independent paywall) to take a product out of its group.
What is sent to Stripe?
When you add or change a price, in the editor or as the first price in the product wizard, it is copied to every active Stripe connection of your workspace, test and live, in the background. A Stripe price cannot change, so editing the amount, currency, interval, number of payments, upfront payment, minimum amount or tax settings creates a new Stripe price and archives the old one. A Free / Pay what you want price with an amount and minimum of zero needs no Stripe object. Deleting a price archives it in Stripe as well.
Recurring prices and payment plans also get a PayPal plan when PayPal is connected.
