Members hand in work through Text submission, File submission, Video submission and Audio submission, and their quiz answers are kept as well. With lesson feedback on, they can also rate each lesson page. Both arrive in one place, so you can review work and answer ratings across all courses.
Where submissions and feedback arrive
Courses > Submissions opens the Submission Center with two tabs. Submissions lists text, file, video, audio and quiz answers from every course; its number counts the work still waiting for grading. Feedback lists the ratings on lesson pages with the course name; its number counts the entries not yet marked as done.
Filter the submissions by type or course, and switch on Pending only to see what still waits. Unrated since shows how many days a pending submission has been waiting.
Each course has the same two tabs in its editor, limited to that course. The course Submissions tab shows how many submissions await review and when the oldest open one came in. Filter it by All, Pending, Revision or Graded, by type, or search by member name or assignment, including the module and lesson shown under it. Quiz answers are left out there. Exam answers appear in neither place: you grade them on the exam's own Submissions tab.

Grading a submission
Click a row to open the submission.
- Read, download, watch or listen to the work. For a video, Fullscreen review opens a large player with the comments and the grading beside it.
- Add comments where they help (see the next section).
- Give a Score of one to five stars. Each star is worth 20 points, and the member sees the score out of 100.
- Write your overall Feedback for the member.
- Press Grade and continue. The next pending submission opens, or the Submission Center when none is left.
If the work is not good enough yet, press Request revision instead. Your feedback goes to the member, no score is saved. The member is notified either way.
The Review queue beside the work shows how many submissions in the queue are graded. Previous and Next step through all submissions, not only the ones your filters show. Pending only carries over from the list, the type and search filters do not. Open lesson opens the lesson in the editor in a new tab.
Opened from a course's Submissions tab, the review queue and Grade and continue stay within that course, including quiz answers. From the Submission Center they run across all courses.
Quiz answers are scored automatically. The page shows the answer and whether it was Correct or Incorrect, without a grading form. Members can retake a quiz, and the list shows their latest attempt.
Commenting on a passage or a moment
Comments form a thread under the work. Type into Write a comment and press Send. A comment can carry up to 10 attachments: images, files, an audio recording or a video.
- In a text answer, select a passage and click Comment passage. The passage stays highlighted, and a click on it jumps to the comment and back.
- In a video or audio answer, keep Timestamp on to pin the comment to the current moment. A click on the time plays from there.
Choose Internal note instead of Comment for a note only your team sees. A comment notifies the member, an internal note notifies nobody. When the member replies, the team members who commented on or graded the submission are notified, or everyone with Edit Course if nobody has yet.

What the member sees
Under the element, members see the state of their work:
- Submitted with "Waiting for feedback" until you grade it.
- Revision requested with your feedback. New work goes back to pending without the earlier score and feedback.
- Graded with the stars, the score out of 100 and your Trainer feedback. A graded submission can no longer be changed.
Below that, they read your comments under Comments and answer with Write a reply. Internal notes stay hidden.
A submission switched to Must be done counts once it is handed in, one switched to Must be rated only after you have graded it. Until then the lesson shows how many submissions are missing or Awaiting review, and the member cannot finish it.
A submission sent back for revision no longer counts toward Must be done or Must be rated. The lesson counts as incomplete again until the member hands in new work and, where required, you grade it.
Members can only hand in work in lessons that are open for them and published with Update Course. With Work through lessons step by step or Work through sections step by step, a lesson accepts submissions only once the lessons before it are complete, even through a direct link.
Turning on lesson feedback
Open the course, go to Settings > General and use Allow lesson feedback in the Lesson feedback box. It is on for new courses. A change reaches members once you click Update Course.
Members then find Give feedback at the bottom of each lesson page: Your rating from one to five stars, an optional comment under Your feedback of up to 2000 characters, and Send anonymously. Anonymous feedback shows Anonymous and no picture, in the list as well, but your reply still reaches the member. Each member rates a page once; the button then shows their stars.
Answering feedback
The course Feedback tab lists the feedback for that course. Search with Search by Content (page, lesson and module names) or Members, sort by Newest, Oldest, Highest rating or Lowest rating, and switch on Show completed feedback to include closed entries. Each entry shows the stars, the date, the comment and a link to the lesson in the editor.
- Respond to feedback: write under Your Response and press Send. The member gets an email and a notification. The entry then shows Replied, and the button becomes Edit reply.
- Mark as done closes the entry and takes it out of the open count. Mark as open brings it back.
- Delete feedback removes the entry permanently.
The Feedback tab of the Submission Center offers the same actions for the open feedback of all courses.

Reading the feedback figures
Switch the course Feedback tab to Statistics:
- Total feedback counts all ratings, done or open.
- Average rating is out of 5.
- Positive ratings is the share of 4 and 5 stars.
- Response rate is the share of members with access to the course, directly or through a group, who rated at least one page.
- Rating distribution shows how many ratings each star level received.
- Average rating over time charts the monthly average of the last 12 months.
- Feedback by module lists Responses and Average rating per module, most ratings first.
Who can do what
-
Opening the Submission Center and reading submissions needs View Course or Edit Course. Grading, Request revision and comments need Edit Course. You can delete your own comments; anyone else's needs Edit Course.
-
The Submissions and Feedback tabs inside a course sit in the course editor, which needs Edit Course.
-
Loading feedback and its figures needs View Course. Replying, Mark as done and Allow lesson feedback need Edit Course. Delete feedback needs Delete Course.
