Event views and settings

Find events with the calendar, filters and the week plan, move them by drag and drop and decide which views your members get.

In this article

The Events area has two ways to look at your dates and one page of settings that decides what members get. This article shows how to find an event fast and how to set up the views for your members.

Calendar and Week-Plan tabs

The Calendar tab shows a calendar next to the list of event cards. Switch the calendar between Day, Week, Month, Year and List, and use Expand calendar or Collapse calendar to give it more or less room. Previous, Next and Today move through time.

The Week-Plan tab shows one week with a column per day, the way members see it. CW shows the calendar week, and Previous week, Next week and Today move between weeks.

Finding an event

The search field above the list finds events by name, location or calendar name. Upcoming and Past switch between future and finished events. In the collapsed calendar, a click on a day shows only the events of that day. Clear date filter brings back the upcoming events.

The filter menu narrows the list by Status, Start date, Topic, Space, Ticketing and Created. The calendar list in the filter bar shows or hides whole calendars.

Reading an event card

Each card shows the status of the event unless it is simply published, and a badge with the number of people coming (Attendees, or Attendees in this series for a recurring event). Cards also show Tickets sold and the Waitlist when you use them. Series marks a recurring event, and Restricted marks an event that only some members can see.

A click on the card opens its details with the description, links and hosts. Without Update Events the card button reads Preview instead of Edit.

Moving and adding from the calendar

Drag an event to another day in the month view or the collapsed calendar, to another time in the day or week view, or to another day column in the Week-Plan. Dragging works like Move: members who should hear about the change get a notice. Moving needs Update Events.

In the day and week view, a click on a free time slot opens Create Event with that start time. This needs Create Events.

General settings

Settings on the Events header holds the settings for all views. Changes save on their own, and you see Saving and then Saved. Changing them needs Update Events.

  • Week starts on sets Monday or Sunday as the first day of the week in calendars, the week plan and date pickers.
  • Display weekends shows Saturday and Sunday as columns in the week plan.

Which views members get

The Calendar and the Week-Plan each have a switch. Turn a view off to hide it from members; one view always stays on. Set as default picks the view members see first, marked Default. Members who have both views can still switch, and their own choice wins.

The Events settings with both views switched on, the Week-Plan set as default and the week plan options.

Week-Plan options

These options show up while the Week-Plan is switched on.

  • Week navigation lets members move beyond the current week. Set how far with Weeks into the past and Weeks into the future, each from 0 to 260 weeks.
  • Event overlay is the gradient that keeps card titles readable on event images: Dark gradient, Primary gradient or Custom color with a color of your choice.

Widgets in the side panel

Add Widget to Side-Panel sits below the calendar on the Calendar tab and places elements there, for example a text, a video or a button. Members see them below the calendar in their Calendar view, not in the Week-Plan. You can reorder, duplicate and delete widgets. All of this needs Update Events.
