The cards on your dashboard start in a sensible order, not a personal one. You can move them, and you can remove the ones you never read.
The Customize button in the dashboard header turns on customizing. The page stays where it is; a handle bar with the card's name and its controls appears above every card, and each card gets a dashed outline.
Moving a card
Drag a card by the grip in its handle bar and drop it where you want it. The arrows next to it move the card one place up or down, mouse or not. The other cards make room as you go, and the label that follows your cursor tells you which card you are holding.
Changing a card's width
The handle bar of each card carries a width control while you are customizing. A card can take a third, a half, two thirds or the full width of the grid, and every card offers only the widths that suit it: a table never shrinks to a third, a small counter never stretches across the page.
The row fills from the left, so a card that no longer fits moves down. If a half-width card leaves a gap beside it, drop the next card into it or widen one of the two.
Adding a card
Add widget in the bar at the bottom opens the catalog, grouped, with a search box over the name, the description and the key. It lists only what is not on the tab yet; On this tab switches the cards you already placed back in, each with a Show widget link that closes the catalog and highlights the card in the grid. The search covers both sets, and hovering Add names the width the card will take.
The catalog only lists what your account and your plan allow. A card belonging to a feature you have switched off does not appear at all.
Removing a card
The X at the end of a card's handle bar takes the card off the tab. It is not gone for good: the catalog under Add widget lists it again, and Reset this tab brings the original set back.
Cards that have nothing to show yet stay out of sight outside customizing. While you customize they appear as a single line that says when they will show up, for instance once the inbox has conversations.
Removing a card removes the card, not the data. The numbers keep being collected, and the card is exactly as it was when you add it again.
Saving
A small bar appears at the bottom of the screen while you customize. It tells you whether you have unsaved changes and holds two buttons.
- Save keeps the arrangement. If you changed nothing, the button reads Done and simply closes customizing.
- Reset this tab throws away your arrangement for the tab you are on and puts back the original order with every card showing.
The bar is the only thing that writes your changes. Leaving the page mid-edit without saving leaves the tab as it was.
Each tab is separate
The arrangement is per tab. Rearranging Payments does not touch Members, and resetting one tab leaves the others alone.
A small dot on the Customize button marks a tab you have customized, so you can see at a glance whether the tab you are on is yours or the default.
When everything is removed
Remove every card on a tab and the tab tells you so, with a button to bring them all back. It is a way out, not an error.
Only for you
Your arrangement belongs to your account. Your team keeps their own, and nothing you remove disappears for anyone else.
The dashboard your members see is a different thing entirely, built once for everyone rather than arranged per person.
