X is the one network where posting costs money per post, and the bill goes to us rather than to you. That is why it is treated carefully.
What you need on your account
- An X account you sign in to yourself.
Connecting it
- Open Social Media, then Channels.
- Click Connect on the X tile.
- Authorise on X's screen.
What it can do
- Text posts up to 280 characters
- Up to four images or one video
- Alt text
- A reply as a first comment
- Scheduling and the calendar
- Mentions and direct messages in the inbox
What it cannot do yet
- Threads of several posts in a row
- Polls
- Long posts beyond 280 characters
When it does not work
The tile is greyed out. X is not switched on for this platform. Since February 2026 X has no free tier: every post is billed, and a post carrying a link costs more than a dozen plain ones.
The counter in the header. X this month counts what went out. It is there so the cost is visible where it is caused.
