Connect LinkedIn

Post to your personal LinkedIn profile. Company pages need a different approval and are not built.

In this article

LinkedIn connects in a few seconds once we are cleared for it. It posts to the profile of the person who connects, which is worth knowing before you plan a month of content.

What you need on your account

  • A LinkedIn account you sign in to yourself. Nothing else is set up on LinkedIn's side.

Connecting it

  1. Open Social Media, then Channels.
  2. Click Connect on the LinkedIn tile.
  3. Confirm on LinkedIn's screen. You come straight back, and your name and photo appear in the list.

What it can do

  • Text posts
  • One image or one document per post
  • Link previews
  • Scheduling and the calendar

What it cannot do yet

  • Company pages. They need LinkedIn's reviewed Community Management API, which is a different application and is not built. A post always goes to the personal profile.
  • Video
  • Comments in the inbox

When it does not work

The tile is greyed out. LinkedIn has cleared our app, so this is on our side: the credentials are not stored on this platform yet. Nothing you can do on your account.

The connect screen asks for permissions you did not expect. LinkedIn shows your name, your photo and the right to post on your behalf. It never asks for your password, and it cannot read your messages.
