memberarea ships with more than most businesses need. Rather than hide the extras, you decide which areas exist at all. A feature that is off has no menu entry, no pages and no presence in the member area.
Only roles that may manage features can use the switches. The owner and admins can.
How the page works
The list on the left holds every area of the platform with a switch beside it. Click one and the panel on the right shows what it does, What's included and an animated preview of the feature. Where there is more to read, Learn more opens the product page.
The switch on that panel is the same switch as in the list. Read first, then decide. Every switch saves straight away. In the panel, the status under the feature name changes from Saving to Saved.
The features that suit the setup type you picked for your workspace sit at the top and carry a Recommended badge while they are off.
What you can switch

Those five are fully released, and more areas join the list over time. An area in beta carries a Beta badge: you switch it on like any other area, and it may still change while it takes shape.
What happens when you switch something on
The area appears in your admin navigation straight away, along with its pages.
For community, courses, hubs and events, memberarea also adds an entry at the end of the member navigation, under its default name. Courses adds two entries: Courses and Bookmarks. A dialog Added to member navigation then offers Open navigation. It opens the navigation settings with that entry selected, so you can rename it and move it.
Nothing is created for you. Switching on courses gives you an empty course area, not a sample course. Only the setup of a new workspace creates sample content. While that sample content exists, the Sample content box at the bottom of the features page removes it with Remove sample content. Creating your workspace explains where it comes from.
What happens when you switch something off
Your content is not deleted. The area disappears from both navigations and from the search, its pages in the admin panel and the member area stop being reachable, and everything inside it waits. A few design settings, such as the Community and Courses tabs under Design, stay visible.
Switch a feature back on and your content is exactly where you left it. Turning something off is a way to hide it, not a way to clear it out.
The member navigation entry is the one exception. It comes back at the end of the menu under its default name (for courses, both entries), so rename and move it again if you had changed it.
That makes the switch safe to experiment with. If you are unsure whether you want events, turn them on, look around, and turn them off again.
Members lose access to that area immediately. If people are actively using a course or a community space, tell them before you switch it off.
A sensible starting point
Turn on the one area your business is built around and leave the rest off. An empty menu with three entries is easier to learn than a full one with twelve, and adding the next area takes one click whenever you are ready for it.
