Learn modules and exam modules live in one library for your whole workspace. A course does not own its modules, it links to them. That lets you write an onboarding module or a final exam once, place it in as many courses as you like and keep it up to date in one place.
The library
Open Courses and switch to the Modules tab. Every module shows where it is used: Used in course: or Used in courses: with links to those courses, or Not used in any course. The search looks at names and descriptions in all folders at once.
Add opens Create New Module, which asks for a title and, optionally, a description and an image. It creates a learn module with one empty section. Exam modules are created inside a course with Create new Module, where you pick Exam-Module; opening one takes you to the exam editor.
Modules you create inside a course with Create new Module land in the same library, at its top level. Only the two course-only entries, an external link and a link to another course, stay in that one course and never appear here.
Folders keep a large library tidy. New Folder opens Create Folder, which takes a name, a color and an icon; folders can sit inside other folders, and Move To in a module's menu files it away. A folder that still holds modules or subfolders cannot be deleted: the dialog says Folder cannot be deleted! until you move them out.
To work on several modules at once, tick them and use the selection bar: Duplicate copies them, with a name for each copy, and Move To files them into a folder together.

Using a module in another course
In the course editor, on the Content tab, choose Connect existing Module. The list searches the whole library, folders included, and leaves out modules that are already in this course. Load more fetches the next page. Select one or more modules and confirm.
A connected module starts as Hidden in that course. Members only see it after you give it another status and publish the course.
What is shared and what stays per course
Everything inside the module is shared: its title, image and description, its sections, lessons and pages. Once a module is used in more than one course, its editor shows the notice This module is shared across multiple courses. with the button Show Courses, which lists every course that uses it.
Each course keeps its own settings for the module:
- its position in the course,
- its status, such as Visible, On request or Drip, together with the dates, delays and request texts that go with it.
The same module can therefore be Visible in one course and On request in another.
Learning progress is stored per lesson, not per course. A member who finishes a lesson of a shared module in one course has also finished it in every other course that uses the module. The same holds for an exam: passing it in one course counts in every course that uses the exam module. The course itself is only completed, with its automations and certificate, in courses the member has access to.
Members see the published copy of a course. Changes to the sections, lessons and pages of a shared module reach the members of a course when you publish that course again, course by course. Exams are the exception: changes to an exam's settings, pools and questions apply right away in every course that uses it.

Giving one course its own version
Sometimes one course needs a variant. The quickest way is in the course itself:
- In the course editor, open the shared module from the Content tab.
- In the notice This module is shared across multiple courses., choose Desynchronize and confirm.
This replaces the module in this course with a copy under the same name and opens the copy for editing. All other courses keep the original. Members keep seeing the original until you click Update Course. After that, progress in this module starts over for this course, because the copy has its own lessons. Desynchronize is only offered when you open the module from a course, not in the module library.
You can also make the copy yourself and swap it in:
- In the library, open the module's menu and choose Duplicate. The dialog Duplicate Module suggests "Copy of" plus the current name under New name. For a learn module, the copy contains all sections, lessons and pages with their content. A copy of an exam module includes the exam with its settings, pools and questions, but no attempts. The copy stays in the original's folder.
- In the course that needs the variant, choose Remove from course in the original module's menu.
- Use Connect existing Module to add the copy, then set its status.
Duplicating a whole course
Duplicate in a course's menu in the course list opens Duplicate Course, which suggests "Copy of" plus the course name under New name. With Synchronize all, which is preselected, the new course uses the same modules as the original, so they are shared between both courses. The copy also takes over the course page widgets, authors and goals.
Each module in the list has two icons: the arrows keep it shared, the copy icon duplicates it. A duplicated module, or every module after Duplicate all, becomes an independent copy in your module library with all sections, lessons, pages and elements. For an exam module, the copy gets the exam with its settings, pools and questions, but no attempts. Link modules are copied as links.
The new course always starts unpublished. Members see it only after you publish it yourself. To give a synchronized module its own version later, use Desynchronize as described above.
Removing and deleting
In a course, the module's menu offers two different actions:
- Remove from course takes the module out of this course only. It stays in the library and in every other course, and members of this course keep seeing it until you click Update Course.
- Delete module removes it from the library as well. If another course still uses it, the dialog says Module cannot be deleted! and asks you to remove it from those courses first.
The check also covers the published version of every course. A module that is still part of a course's live version stays in the library until you click Update Course in that course; in this case Delete module only takes it out of the current course.
Deleting a single module from the library runs the same check against every course. Deleting several modules at once through the selection bar does too: if one of them is still used, nothing is deleted and the dialog names the modules in use.
Who can do this
The library follows the module permissions of a role: View Module to see it, Create Module to add modules and folders, duplicate and desynchronize, Edit Module to open, rename and move modules, and Delete Module to delete modules and folders.
In a course, the Content tab needs Edit Course for the course editor and View Module for the module list. Creating or connecting a module there also takes Create Module, and Remove from course and Delete module take Delete Module. Duplicating a whole course needs Create Course.
