YouTube connects through your Google account and posts to the channel that account owns.
What you need on your account
- A Google account with a YouTube channel. An account without a channel cannot be connected.
- The channel verified for uploads longer than 15 minutes, if you plan long videos.
Connecting it
- Open Social Media, then Channels.
- Click Connect on the YouTube tile.
- Pick the Google account, read the permission list and confirm.
What it can do
- Video uploads with title, description, tags and category
- Visibility: public, unlisted or private
- A thumbnail
- Scheduling and the calendar
- Comments in the inbox
What it cannot do yet
- Shorts as a separate format
- Playlists
- Live streams
- End screens and cards
When it does not work
An upload waits instead of going out. The daily upload quota is used up. It is a quota on our Google project and is shared, so a busy day elsewhere can reach it. The post stays in the queue and goes out by itself once the quota resets at midnight Pacific time.
The connect screen warns about an unverified app. Google's verification for upload access is still running. Nothing is wrong with your account.
Connecting fails and Google mentions a user limit. Until the verification is through, Google lets at most 100 accounts across the whole platform connect a YouTube channel, and that ceiling is shared by every tenant. Write to us if you run into it; we can see how full it is.
